The American Idea Reader: Traditio Nostra IV

"The American Idea: Traditio Nostra IV" is a class taught at Oxrose Academy which covers the United States from its first European settlement to the present. The class format is that of a "great books" seminar--students read primary works from the great authors and authoresses of Western Civilization and then discuss them in a round-table format, thus joining what has been referred to as the "Great Conversation." The students learn to read, listen, speak, relish, and dispute the true, good, and beautiful things that "our tradition" has to offer.This reader includes most of the shorter readings read by students with the instructor. Additional books are required for purchase to complete the necessary readings for the class. This book accompanies a class as well as an online suite of materials and a workbook. Read more
